Riley Green is one of the better known artists in today's Country/Folk scene, captivating audiences worldwide with his take on the genre. Country music as we know it originated in the 1920s in the southern United States. Stemming from both American folk and Western music, it really came to the fore in the 1940s. Nowadays it is the second most popular music choice for commuters to listen to in the United States. Melodies and harmonies in country music tend to be relatively simple and are mostly played on string instruments, such as banjos, guitars and fiddles.
